FWaaS processes rules based on their order, stopping at the first hit. As a result, it doesn’t overwhelm the ruleset, and each rule can be set with specific exceptions. In fact, Admins can group rules into sections for better readability and review by auditors. FWaaS features a rich set of objects (user identity, organization unit, device, host, application, protocol, location, network, VLAN, and many more), that are used in rules, with the ability to manage them in logical groups that can combine multiple object types.
All FWaaS rules and actions can be set to record and store information in Cato Networks’ SASE cloud platform for a specified period. In addition, Email Notifications can be configured to be sent for select events that recur during a certain time period and at a defined level of urgency. What’s more, Event Monitoring and Analysis is available through an easy to search and filter dashboard interface. Of course, all admin activities are recorded for tracking, monitoring, and auditing.
Due to the cloud-native software architectures of Cato Networks’ FWaaS, features and capabilities are not limited by underlying hardware. Autonomous and elastic scalability ensures high performance and resiliency. Admins enable all features, including TLS inspection, and use any type, number of objects, groups and rules without performance or availability concerns. FWaaS microsegmentation is easily configured to restrict access to sensitive resources. In addition, policies can be set based on groups, networks, VLANs and individual objects such as hosts, users and devices to govern granular access that meets business requirements.
